We spoke to TRASH about their summer of festivals and their relationship with BBC Introducing, give it a read and check out their new single Give Up.
Can you introduce yourself and tell us what instruments you play in the band?
Dan – rhythm guitar and voice
Tom – bass guitar and voice
Evan – lead guitar and voice
Brad – drums
You’ve been championed by BBC Introducing, do you think that’s a big thing for bands to have on their side?
Yeah 100%. I have some friends who are great musicians and they’ve written a lot of strong material but maybe aren’t aware of BBC introducing and how easy it is to share intimate projects with a wider audience
How has it helped you personally?
We’ve built relationships with various people through BBC introducing which has lead to gig opportunities at festivals and independently organised events. As a punter myself I’m always looking to discover new talent and BBC introducing puts bands in front of people like myself.
You’ve played a few festivals this summer, what was the best and why?
YNOT main stage was bizarre. We’d like to think it was a taste of what’s to come but it was game changing experience regardless. I think from that show we learnt that we are ready for any stage at any festival now; and it boosted our confidence and band moral.
What’s been the funniest moment at a festival this summer?
We played two shows in an hour at Tramlines fest in Sheffield, on what was arguably one of the hottest days of the year. Running down the street topless (don’t ask) with all our gear can’t have been a great look.
You released a new track that was premiered with Phil Taggart called ‘Give Up’, recently. How’s the reaction been to that?
People seem to dig it but our main focus is the new EP which will be dropping next year.
What’s next for Trash?
Loads of gigs and new releases and merch and memes.
Where do you see yourselves in 5 years?
I like this question because it gives us the opportunity to say something funny. So I’m gonna say on the A1 with a broken down car with a Mcdonalds milkshake in hand with soundcheck in half an hour with still an hour to drive.
